The Olympia-Lacey urbanized area (UZA) has surpassed 200,000 residents, which changed Intercity Transit’s designation to a large urban transit agency starting Oct. 1, 2023. FTA requires large urban transit agencies to take additional steps to comply with Title VI, which includes conducting passenger surveys to understand customer demographics and travel patterns in conjunction with Intercity Transit’s Title VI plan update.

The Intercity Transit Authority scheduled a special meeting for Thursday, October 26, 2023, for the purpose of conducting General Manager Candidate Interviews.  The governing board will meet from 9 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m. in the Board Room of the administrative office located at 510 Pattison SE, Olympia, WA.

The Intercity Transit Authority (ITA) Board is happy to announce three finalists in their search for the agency’s new General Manager. The finalists were selected from almost 100 qualified applicants from across the continent and around the world. The finalists will be in the area Oct. 25-27 for a series of events and interviews.

On Thursday, Sep. 28 and Friday, Sept. 29, the northbound Interstate 5 (I-5) on-ramp at Martin Way, near College St., will be temporarily closed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The temporary closure is necessary for construction activity to be completed on the northbound I-5 on-ramp. The I-5 on-ramp is expected to reopen as soon as work is completed.
Intercity Transit is looking for current riders, potential new riders and people who are unlikely to use their services to participate in several focus groups the week of October 2. The agency’s goal is to better understand the experiences and perceptions the community has about Intercity Transit and their services.

The northbound Interstate 5 (I-5) on-ramp at Martin Way, near College St., will be closed for overnight work Friday, August 18. During the overnight closures, traffic control measures and a detour for NB I-5 traffic will be in place. The closure will occur between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. The closure is necessary to complete permanent striping from the ramp onto I-5. Southbound access to Interstate 5 will not be impacted.
