Thurston region launches Ride the Rainbow sweepstakes in June
OLYMPIA, Wash. – Every June, Washington state recognizes Ride Transit Month to affirm the benefits of public transportation in our communities. This year, Thurston Regional Planning Council (TRPC) and Intercity Transit are celebrating with the Ride the Rainbow sweepstakes.
To enter to win prizes, participants must ride any seven transit routes — one for each color of the rainbow — in Thurston County through July 3, 2026. There is no cost to participate, and all public transportation services in Thurston County are fare-free.
“This year’s Ride Transit Month is all about the joy of riding transit,” said Veronica Jarvis, Senior Planner at TRPC. “Riding the Rainbow is a great opportunity to get out and about in our community, all while saving money and reducing air pollution.”
“Intercity Transit looks forward to participating in Transportation Choices Coalition’s Ride Transit Month in June,” said Emily Bergkamp, General Manager at Intercity Transit. “We are thrilled to support a local activity this year for our riders to participate in TRPC’s Ride the Rainbow sweepstakes.”
Eligible Ride the Rainbow participants include anyone at least 18 years old who lives in or travels into Thurston County. TRPC will accept one entry per person.
To participate:
- Download a Ride the Rainbow participant form from TRPC’s website or stop by Intercity Transit Customer Service located in the Olympia Transit Center to pick up a form.
- Ride any seven transit routes in Thurston County. Intercity Transit, ruralTRANSIT (rT), Lewis County Transit, Mason Transit, and Grays Harbor Transit routes will qualify.
- Submit the Ride the Rainbow participant form to TRPC by July 10, 2026.
Participants can fill out either an electronic or printed Ride the Rainbow participant form. Electronic forms can be marked by clicking the box or using a drawing tool.
Multiple routes ridden in a single trip may all be counted towards the total seven routes. For example, if a participant rides Intercity Transit from South Puget Sound Community College to the Lacey Transit Center, Routes 24 and 51 would count as two of the seven routes.
There are three ways to submit completed Ride the Rainbow participant forms:
- Email: ThurstonCommutes@trpc.org
- Text message: 360-741-2532
- Mail: 2411 Chandler Ct SW, Olympia WA 98502
The prize drawing will take place during the week of July 14, 2026. Selected winners will be notified by email and will receive $50 gift cards.
