Intercity Transit seeks advisors to help shape public transit
Apply now to serve on the Community Advisory Committee
OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Intercity Transit Authority (ITA) is seeking civic-minded individuals to serve on the Community Advisory Committee (CAC). This is a great opportunity to use your voice to provide feedback and help shape transit issues and policies that affect our community. Successful candidates are also eligible for a monthly stipend to support their participation.
The CAC is a 20-member advisory group that is passionate about transit. Nineteen members serve three-year terms, while youth positions serve one-year terms. To apply, you must live, work, or attend school in Thurston County. We encourage a cross-section of the community to apply, including transit users, business owners, nonprofit representatives, students, and other community members.
As part of our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, we are seeking representation from:
- Active-duty military and veterans
- BIPOC
- People living with disabilities
- Fixed-income families
- LGBTQ+ community
- Seniors
- Youth
- Persons living in rural areas
How to Apply
- Get an application: Applications for the CAC are available on our website at intercitytransit.com. You can also pick up a physical form at the Olympia Transit Center (205 Franklin St., Olympia) or the Intercity Transit’s Administrative Office (510 Pattison St. SE, Olympia).
- Submit your application: Complete the online form, email your completed application to acollins@intercitytransit.com, or mail your completed application via USPS to Intercity Transit Attn: CAC, PO Box 659, Olympia, WA 98507.
- Deadline: Applications are due Friday, Oct. 3, 2025.
- Save the date: Interviews are tentatively scheduled for Friday, November 7th, 2025. Please mark this date on your calendar if you are selected to participate in the interview process.
Additional information about the CAC can be found at intercitytransit.com. The Intercity Transit Authority is a nine-member Board of Directors, who set policy and direction for the transit agency; it is made up of elected officials who represent the Thurston County Board of Commissioners and the Cities of Lacey, Tumwater, Olympia, and Yelm, a labor representative, and three community representatives. CAC members are appointed by the ITA and serve in an advisory capacity to the ITA and Intercity Transit staff.
