Safety in School Zones
Intercity Transit coordinates with the City of Olympia Public Works department to monitor the speed of traffic near school zones in the Olympia School District. Drivers traveling more than 10 miles over the speed limit receive warning letters from the City, and speeding decreases almost immediately.
If you would like to schedule a speed watch near in the Olympia, North Thurston, Tumwater or Yelm School Districts, please contact us. We will ask your local Public Works or Police Department to borrow the equipment.

Undriving Program
Intercity Transit works with the Ballard-based, grass-roots program, Undriving. We issue Undriver's Licenses in return for pledges to reduce indvidual car use the following month. The pledges are an opportunity to think creatively about transportation, begin using new modes, and focus on ridesharing.
Contact Erin Scheel to ask about having the Undriving Station at worksites, events, or functions.
Need help arranging transportation? Check the Olympia Walking Map, Thurston County Bike Map, or our online trip planner to review your route options. you can also contact Customer Service.

BIKE PARTners
Bike PARTners introduces 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders to bicycles as serious transportation and healthy recreation and models principles of environmental stewardship. Volunteers teach simple mechanical and bicycle safety skills to students nad refurbish used bikes.
History
Bike PARTners began as a volunteer shop at Mercy Housing in Olympia, Washington. It now operates out of Intercity Transit. The program visited Madison Elementary in Olympia and began regular workshops at Roosevelt Elementary in spring 2011. Bike PARTners will expand to three new schools in the 2011-2012 school year.
How it Works
Bicycles abandoned on Intercity Transit and King County Metro buses are refurbished through Bike PARTners.
Class sizes are small but regular due to the one-on-one nature of the mechanics' lessons. Students who do not have bicycles receive the ones they work on.
If you have a broken or unused bicycle, we'll swap them for functional ones and refurbish your old ones and pass them along to students. Contact Erin Scheel.

Walk & Roll

Walk and Roll informs students about alternative modes of transportation, their health benefits, and safety measures. It is supported by the Federal Safe Routes to Schools Program. See the map for local schools with Walk and Roll programs.
