Ridership 2011
By the end of November, we had provided 4.5 percent more rides than during the first 11 months of 2010. We have had six record months so far this year. Check back later in 2012 for final 2011 ridership numbers.
Ridership 2010
In 2010, we provided more than 5.1 million rides via fixed route, paratransit and vanpool serivces. Each weekday, we povide an average of 15,000 rides on fixed-route service and Dial-A-Lift combined.
In 2010, our fixed-route service alone provided 4.3 million rides.
Dial-A-Lift provided 147,017 trips in 2010.
Our vanpool program provided nearly 635,090 passenger trips in 2010. Our 185 vanpools serve more than 1,500 commuters traveling daily throughout six counties.
Our Village Vans program provided 5,960 trips to 239 people in 2010.Six drivers obtained paid employment while in Village Vans Job Skills Training Program. The program maintained its more than 90-percent success rate helping drivers obtain good jobs.
Market Research, Key Findings
Research conducted in fall 2008 through 2009 resulted in valuable feedback from 10,800 area residents and commuters. Three surveys were conducted (Here is a PDF of the detailed report. Scroll to "Market Research Shows Growing Use of Commute Options"):
- Rider Survey of 2,334 passengers on board our buses were followed by 400 in-depth surveys; October-November 2008.
- Market Segmentation Study of 600 general adult public residing in households within Intercity Transit's service area, surveyed by random telephone sampling; January-February 2009.
- Worksite Commuter Survey of 7,874 commuters at a total of 96 area worksite, surveyed on-line; March-April 2009.
