Hourly: $30.47-$41.17

Summary:

Performs support activities related to Intercity Transit’s bicycle, transit, and pedestrian education and encouragement activities. Coordinates and implements Earn-a-Bike classes and is responsible for all operations related to the Walk N Roll bike shop. Works with K-12 students, community members, school staff, parents, volunteers, and community partners.  

Distinguishing Characteristics:

As an Assistant, performs specialized and specific support activities requiring knowledge of marketing and communications principles and processes as they relate to a youth audience. Work is performed within general parameters.

Essential Duties:

Design, update, and facilitate Earn-a-Bike classes and other bike-based education events and activities. Develop curriculum and provide instruction to youth and adults regarding basic bicycle maintenance and safe cycling skills.

Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Walk N Roll bike shop. Implement and maintain systems for the retrieval, storage, repair, and distribution of donated bikes. Monitor inventory and order bicycle parts and tools. Establish and maintain relationships with vendors.

Provide training and technical oversight for staff and volunteers on bicycle repair and safe cycling skills.

Collaborates with other Walk N Roll staff and volunteers, Bicycle Commuter Challenge Assistant and marketing staff.

Source, recruit, and track bike shop and youth education program volunteers.

Create and maintain tracking tools, databases, reports, and evaluation tools for Earn-A-Bike program, bike shop operation and other Walk N Roll programs as needed.

Licensing Requirements:

WA state driver’s license.

Must submit to criminal background check, the results of which must meet hiring criteria for the role.

Physical Requirements:

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, driving, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Semi–Physical Work: Exerting up to 30 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects.  Requires walking up to one mile and biking up to 10 miles on occasion.

Training and Experience:

Associates Degree or specialized certificate training in marketing, communications, environmental studies, bicycle mechanics or riding safety, education, and three years experience working with youth; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
