Field Trips

Intercity Transit is an inexpensive and effective way to take your group on a field trip. Whether for a classroom or a social outing, give us a call.

How do I Request a Field Trip?

Contact Customer Service at least two weeks in advance of the date you wish to travel. 360-786-1881, or e-mail customerservice@intercitytransit.com .

How do I Pay for the Trip?

You must pay the fare for your group at least seven business days before the trip. You may pay by check, cash, Visa, Mastercard, or Discover card at our Customer Service office, 222 Washington Street, Olympia.

Once you pay, we will issue you your passes, which are good for one day.

What is the Fare?

We charge the regular fare of $2 per passenger for a daily pass (good for unlimited rides). Discounted fares are not offered. Children five and under ride free.

How Many People can I Take

Generally, we recommend groups be no larger that 20 people per bus, including chaperones. Your group may have to divide up and take two trips depending on the size of the group and the number of passengers already on the bus or van. The wait for another bus could be from 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the route.

What Time of Day can our Group Travel?

We recommend you travel during off-peak hours:

  • Weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.;
  • Weekdays after 5:30 p.m.; and
  • Weekends.

What if I Need to Cancel?

If you must cancel, we will work with you to reschedule your trip. If you have already paid for the trip and it cannot be rescheduled, we will issue you a refund.

What Else do I Need to Know?

If this is a school field trip, please keep your students in sight and near you at all times. To make your trip a safe and enjoyable experience for all, please share the following riding tips with your students and chaperones:

  • Your group is sharing the bus with other passengers. Please be quiet and respectful of them.
  • Never cross in front of an Intercity Transit bus unless it is stopped at a traffic light. While students can cross the street in front of a school bus that is stopped and has flashing red lights, no one should ever cross in front of an Intercity Transit bus because oncoming motorists may not see them.

Thank you for using Intercity Transit for your field trip.
