Intercity Transit will celebrate 30 years of service to the community at this year’s Arts Walk event. They invite attendees to stop by the Olympia Transit Center (222 State Avenue) in downtown Olympia to get information on sustainable travel options, pick up a new, pocket-size transit system map, and get an “Undriver License.” In addition, Intercity Transit staff will be on hand to demonstrate the agency’s online trip planner and OneBusAway (real-time bus arrival tool), and help long-distance commuters get going by vanpool or carpool. City of Olympia staff will join Intercity Transit to provide tips for cycling and walking. Stop by the corner of State Avenue and Washington Street on Friday, October 7, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 5 to 9 p.m., and look for the Intercity Transit table.
In conjunction with fall Arts Walk activities, Intercity Transit will feature art created by students from Michael T. Simmons Elementary School in Tumwater. The students’ drawings portray the body in motion. Students are encouraged to bike, walk and take the bus to school through the Walk n’ Roll program with Intercity Transit and Thurston Regional Planning Council. Art will be displayed inside the Olympia Transit Center.
Intercity Transit thanks the community for its ongoing support, and looks forward to continuing its public transportation services to the residents, visitors and commuters in Thurston County.
